Like Pharaoh, sometimes people will respond to God's "plagues" -- intended to bring repentance and healing! -- with short-term softening, only to be followed by renewed recalcitrance when the conditions abate. This is not true repentance! How much better it is when the chastening of the Lord results in being yielded-- which is what the Lord desires for all!
