Giving Thanks or Thanksgiving!

Nov 20, 2013    Pastor Mark Kirk

In 1789 George Washington assigned a day "to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks."  What began over two hundred years ago as a day wholly devoted to worshiping Almighty God has transformed into a celebration of food, family and football.  While none of these are wrong in and among themselves, they are a far cry from what Mr. Washington originally intended.

Pastor Mark takes us to the account of the ten lepers in Luke 17:11-19 to give us a better understanding as followers of Christ, that thanksgiving should be more than a single day of the year; our very lives should be marked by an attitude of thankfulness.
